Telecommunications: SMis’ knowhow put to work in Algeria for the implementation of a SCADA system for a strategically important gas pipeline
SMis’ telecommunications division was recently awarded an important contract with Sonatrach, an Algerian public company, which has been involved for the past 50 years, in the exploration, exploitation and transportation of natural gas in Algeria.
n this project, SMi will assist Sonatrach in its operations by providing a telemetric monitoring and data transmission system for the last section of the new GK3 pipeline.
This pipeline is very important to Sonatrach since it is linked to Medgaz, the underwater pipeline transportation system which unites Algeria and Europe and allows Sonatrach to more easily export the natural gas.
The SCADA remote monitoring system and SDH data transmission system will be connected by 470 km of fiber optics. The network stations that will need to be built extend over a large area in the desert, numerous shelters and solar energy facilities will also be provided. In order to do this work, SMi has partnered with Infratele Epe SPA, a local entrepreneur who is recognized in the field of civil engineering for the telecommunication industry.
A project that reflects SMis’ telecommunications division world renowned expertise for the exceptional quality of their executed projects.
